Divakar Vijayasarathy, is a graduate in Commerce, chartered accountant by profession with a strong passion towards domestic and international taxation law. Divakar has over 14 years of varied experience in fields of banking, finance, taxation, credit and risk management. Has worked with BPCL, Kotak Mahindra Bank and CitiBank.

An ex-banker with significant exposures in both domestic and international banks, Divakar is the founder and managing partner of DVS Advisors LLP in 2007. DVS is an international professional services firm with a specific focus on direct and international tax, legal, risk and finance. Founded the firm with a single-minded objective to provide value added cross border services to small and mid-size businesses having global aspirations, focusing on credit underwriting and tax advisory services.

Divakar is engaged in credit underwriting for various banks and NBFCs since 2007. In the credit underwriting vertical, the firm is associated with leading NBFCs and banks including Sundaram Home Finance, Reliance Capital, HDFC Bank, HDFC Ltd, Manapuram Finance, etc. to underwrite their home loan, mortgage loans and business loan portfolio. The firm is one of the largest service providers in this space with successful underwriting experience of more than Rs.16,000 crores since 2007. The firm has a team of more than 30 members primarily comprising of chartered accountants, ex-bankers and finance professionals who handle the credit underwriting portfolio across various locations in Southern and Western part of India.

Divakar associated with Pelican group acquired M/s. GoCapital Finance Limited (formerly Calibre Financial Services Limited) in 2017. GoCapital is an NBFC registered with RBI as a non-deposit taking Company, inter alia engaged in the business of lending monies by extending working capital loans, short term loans and the like to small and medium scale business enterprises. Divakar oversees the operations of this NBFC and is primarily involved in strategy and business development, top management recruitment, handling client relationships and acquisitions, integrating various arms of the business, identifying and acquiring potential target firms and businesses and forging new partnerships and alliances.

A passionate orator and professor on the subject of international and domestic taxation laws, he has presented more than 300 seminars and authored more than 10 books most of which have been national publications. He has been part of several study groups constituted by various committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. A renowned expert on the subject of international tax, he was part of the expert team of ICAI for the certified course on International Taxation. He is a regular columnist and an expert consultant for various national publications in India.
